I Want To Love The Ishkur…

…its just that I can’t. I think its because its a big fat brick but there’s also the fact I just can’t fit it. I mean I fit my first Ishkur with a kinetic hardener, I am just that pro. So, during the extended downtime I’ve been playing around with possible fits and I’ve got a couple of them that I’m sort of happy with now. The Ishkur seems to be very much akin to the Jaguar in that it is a bit of a jack of all trades rather than being an out and out DPS or tanking ship.

[Ishkur, Blasters]

Damage Control II
N-Type Explosive Hardener I
Corpii C-Type Small Armor Repairer

Gistii B-Type 1MN Afterburner
Warp Scrambler II
Stasis Webifier II

Light Ion Blaster II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Ion Blaster II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Ion Blaster II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
Small Diminishing Power System Drain I

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I

Hobgoblin II x5
Hornet EC-300 x4

This seems to a be a fairly standard fit. Although I have put a deadspace repair system and afterburner onto this fit I probably won’t do so on my ships for now. I don’t want to be dropping expensive loot while I get to grips with this ship. I originally had a passive explosive resistance module but there is enough CPU to fit a best named explosive hardener instead and this gives me much more tank against Barrage. Sard Caid tells me that he has found small capacitor control rigs to be a lifesaver on the Ishkur and another friend likes semiconductor memory cells but I’m starting to favour a maximum damage philosophy, especially on Gallente ships, so I’ve opted for damage rigs instead. Only time will tell if this is a mistake.

With Wensley’s skills, implants (Zainou ‘Deadeye’ ZGS 1000, Zainou ‘Deadeye’ ZGC 100, Inherent Implants ‘Noble’ ZET300, Inherent Implants ‘Lancer’ G1-Delta, Inherent Implants ‘Noble’ ZET500), and overloading I get the following out of her:

[Statistics - Wensley]

Effective HP: 7,913
Tank Ability: 72.02 DPS
Damage Profile - (EM: 25.00%, Ex: 25.00%, Ki: 25.00%, Th: 25.00%)
Shield Resists - EM: 12.50%, Ex: 56.25%, Ki: 86.88%, Th: 65.00%
Armor Resists - EM: 57.50%, Ex: 61.75%, Ki: 86.19%, Th: 72.38%

Capacitor: Lasts 45s

Volley Damage: 696.08
DPS: 274.98

So far my main experience using the Ishkur was camping a sling bubble in Pure Blind and I found her to be excellent for this. I don’t really see her as a deep nullsec roaming ship but much more for pottering around lowsec or setting up shop on a bubble. Maybe I should go set up shop in the Amamake area for a while and really get to know her. There don’t seem to be any systems in Great Wildlands that are optimal for camping in a frigate but I might be wrong.

Please, help me love this ship. Tell me what you do with her, how you fit how, how you fly her, and what you think of my efforts to get it right.

been using CCC fit, as honestly my greatest concern when running around MH is neuts, and CCCs don't affect my speed as armor rigs do. The extra DPS from damage rigs are definitely awesome for frig vs frig, I may fit my next like that.

I carry a n-type explo hardner and a t2 dis to swap for mission busting.

About a month ago I've found an unscannable Ishkur fitted for angel plex tanking. Being unwilling to remove the rigs I've come with this fitting:

    [Ishkur, Dualprop dram harrasment]

Light Ion Blaster II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Ion Blaster II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Ion Blaster II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
    Small Nosferatu II

    1MN Afterburner II
    Warp Scrambler II
    Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I

    Overdrive Injector System II
    Damage Control II
    Small Armor Repairer II

    Small Anti-Explosive Pump I
    Small Semiconductor Memory Cell I

    Hobgoblin II x5

However no dualprop dramiel was willing to engage it, so I left it in a system 30 jumps away from where I live.

  3. Wensley Says:

I don't think of the "jack of all trades" assault frigates of being microwarp drive ships. They're much more for controlling the engagement once you are in tackle range. Of course, this does mean that you run the risk of being kited and ending up in trouble because of that but it does mean that if you can get within 10 km of your target, especially other frigates, then you can control the range to a certain extent.

I like the style of the shield gank fit, though.

  4. Laedy Says:

Fit a T2 eanm instead of the hardener, and an x5 web imo. But yeah, that is pretty much exactly how I fit my ishkur too.
I think you're right, they are a "jack of all trades" AF, and mainly best for low-sec pirating or running around factional warfare areas. I carry a set of warriors and a set of hobs. I just cba with ecm drones, they never work for me anyways. lol

If you want to roam in an ishkur in 0.0 then I would suggest something like this:

    [Ishkur, ishkur 0.0 copy 1]
    Damage Control II
    Small Armor Repairer II
    Micro Auxiliary Power Core I

    1MN Afterburner II
    Phased Monopropellant I Hydrazine Boosters
    Warp Scrambler II

Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
    Salvager I

    Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
    Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I

    Hobgoblin II x5
    Warrior II x5

It's not the best ship for 0.0, but the dual prop makes it a lot more survivable.

  5. Schwa Says:

I've used this fit in 0.0 and Lowsec with reasonable success. It's only lightly pimped, the C-Type reppers are like 6 mil and the ab is maybe twice that depending on contract price.

The explosive hardener can be easily switched out for an ENAM, but you'll still have a rather gaping explosive hole, and the hybrid rig can also be switched out if necessary, but I like having the extra optimal for neutrons. Otherwise this is a tight fit, even with my skills.

    [Ishkur, Neutrons]
    Armor Explosive Hardener II
    Centii C-Type Small Armor Repairer
    Damage Control II

    Coreli C-Type 1MN Afterburner
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I

Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S

    Small Hybrid Locus Coordinator I
    Small Ancillary Current Router I

    Hobgoblin II x5
    Warrior II x5

  6. Schwa Says:

Personally I find the extra range handy, most people know to stay out of electron range at least, and within 5k any webbed/scrammed will die in short order. Though with an ab, getting into electron range can be problematic in some cases.

The dps is still rather high for an assault frig in reality, but if you want a real brawler use the Enyo. (they're like half the price wololo) The nice thing about the ishkur is that if you use a web, the tracking bonus isn't as necessary.

  7. Wensley Says:

Aye, I see where you're going with that. Hopefully Ions will provide a happy medium and I can move up or down depending on whether I feel I'm bringing my whole DPS to bear or not. You'd be surprised how much gun tier affects hit quality without a tracking bonus. The Jaguar can have severe tracking problems with 200mm ACs despite having full tackle.

  8. Schwa Says:

Of course, it's also good to know that you have options (as long as they're not electrons) unlike with the enyo… problem as always is having to fight in optimal.

Never used 200s on a jag personally, though thats because I active tank mine and can spare lows for 2 gyros. (does well against ishkurs)

  9. Mitch Says:

TD ishkur is best ishkur very good for taking down cane etc
EM Pump rig and exp hardner with heat gives best resits
semi rig gives bit more cap for reping
and always use a damage control with ishkur as the hull tank is and awesome buffer lol

    227 dps
    55/96 dps tank
    844m/s
    1.17mins cap all running

  10. Wensley Says:

Ssssh, people don't know that EM is secretly the best damage type to do against T2 Gallente.

When fighting Hurricanes don't you find that their neuts shut down your system too much for you to be able to tank the inevitable drones long enough to kill them?

  11. Anxiir Says:

hey man. I got a fit I love to fly. I call it “Epic Tanked” because it has enough tank to take down shield gank thrashers. Lost one to a faction fitted “standard” ishkur (rep, dcu, eanp). he had a sliver of hull left when I burned out my guns, AND I had the wrong ammo loaded lol. but anyway this fit really performs well for me.

    [Ishkur, Epic Tanked]
    Damage Control II
    Small Armor Repairer II

Its slow, no question about that. But it has some staying power, thats why I love it. I find that flying agressively really helps. Just get in their face and melt it. Didn’t need that transversal anyway, amiright?
