New Years Eve-olutions

Add comments

As you all know by now I have spent the last couple of weeks fixing my security status. Well, now that I am no longer a criminal in the eyes of CONCORD I can tell you that in the next week or so I shall be leaving The Tuskers and moving out to nullsec to join the Dark Knights of Deneb, part of Against All Authorities.

A lot of peole have asked why I’m giving up piracy and joining a large nullsec alliance. I know they seem like being polar opposites. I’ve got to a point in my Eve life where I’ve been doing piracy for 16 months now. Its been great fun and I really enjoyed the challenge of it but there’s a lot more to Eve than just lowsec and with the release of Dominion it seems like a great time to go and explore sovereign space. Leaving The Tuskers will be hard and I’m sure an emotional post will follow soon but I will be rejoining old friends and hopefully making lots of new ones.

So what are my New Years resolutions? Well, first and foremost I’m going to throw myself into alliance life. I’m going to get involved in as many things as possible, have as many new experiences as possible, learn as many new things as possible and, of course, write about them here for you to read.

There are some other things that I want to achieve, too. The new version of the Rifter guide has been sat unfinished for too long. I want to get that out and done as soon as possible. Another project that I am going to start is a new film. Well, actually a series of short films exploring the whole of the Minmatar ship line. I’ve already done a couple of Rifter films so i think I’ll start with something like the Thrasher and see how people like it.

My alts are going to start their own company and go into business selling ships. Once things are up and running I’ll post a bit more about my secret, dark, carebear underbelly.

So what about you? What are you going to do in New Eden this year? Try PvP for the first time? Go on an adventure into nullsec? Whatever it is post here and help inspire people to try something new in January.

Oh, and Happy New Year!

It's sad to see you leave The tuskers Wensley. I myself am not a Tusker, but an aspiring pirate and a devoted Rifter pilot thanks to your guide and thanks to The Tuskers friendly and respectful attitude to piracy. I even remember you mailing you once, probably about 2 months ago now with my internal debate with wanting to be a pirate, without your advice I doubt I would be where I am at in New Eden.

I wish you the best in your endeavours, null sec is pretty fun from what I've seen, the concept of staking your place in eve and defending it alongside friends is a great one; hopefully it shall be everything it's cracked up to be.

Thanks for the guides and the yarrr!

    Best of luck,

    Kishin Hattori.

The echo of your cannons will forever be heard through the gates and space lanes of lowsec.
    :)

Enjoy your new adventure(s) Wensley. I'm sure you'll have a hoot!

I think this year I might finally get into a Curse and/or an Arazu.

I'm hoping to continue my explorations of New Eden. By the end of the year, I'd like to have explored 30% of the 2,500+ systems charted out. Good luck with your resolutions! :)

hey im kinda new to the game ive only been playing for about a month now and i stumbled across your blog about a week ago and i have to say its been help full to no end even with what little skill points i have my rifter has been dominating the npc fighters in the missions. i feel like in some cases im destroying ship that i shouldn't be able to take on at my lvl. but i want to say thanks and i want to ask what kind of a set up would be good for a destroyer. i tryed going with a long range set up but the ship is so slow that i cant keep them at range. but at the same time its so slow that i cant get close enough fast enough without taking a beating like mad. id appreciate it if you could get hold of me eather in game my guys name is GDI2GDI or ill attach my email in the right slot. any help is appriceated.

The end of an era has come. I have no doubts that you will have fun in low sec Wens. It was a lot of fun to fly with you, now apparently I'll be flying against you ( Elf is currently in Atlas Alliance ) . Take care bud. I'll keep an eye on the blog and I'm sure I'll see you in game.

The number of Tuskers I've said that to over the last year or so…

I wish you the best of luck Wens. I was lured into piracy by this blog and after a month or so killing stuff while in an NPC corp I joined the Tuskers. You've truly taken low sec pvp to a higher level, while I still consider myself a novice. As I've had a totally different playstyle compared to yours (minimizing losses), my intention is to take more risks during this year. I will also invest the coming 12 months in training long skills. At the end of this year I plan to fly Scimitars, Oneiros, Drakes and Typhoons with maxed out skills.

Have fun Wensley, it's been a pleasure flying with you!

Thanks, man. I used to be pretty cautious too but then I realised quite how cheap Rifters are and never looked back, really. That's a nice list of ships to fly. I think the Typhoon is definitely my current long term goal. The Tempest will keep me going for now but the 'Phoon just looks so awesome. Shame it takes about a billion skillpoints.
