This weekend I took advantage of my privileges as an alumnus of Agony Unleashed’s Basic PvP class. After every class they have a roam in T1 frigates where they head off into nullsec and look for good targets. Alumni can attend for free so I headed out with a couple of friends from my days back in DGAF. I took a Rifter fitted entirely for speed tank with a sensor dampner and tracking disruptor in the midslots to provide e-war for the gang. It wasn’t anything special, just something I’d cobbled together from the corp’s junk hangar.
We formed up in Harroule and headed out into Syndicate through MHC-R3, a system I know well. Almost immediately we encountered a gang and Caldak, our FC, leapt into action. Targets were called, e-war applied, and the fight was underway. The gang we were fighting was from a corp called Imperium Technologies and consisted mostly of T1 cruisers but with a Phobos and Onyx there for interdiction purposes. For some reason both interdictors fired upon me during the fight but neither did too much damage. Thanks to a bit of friendly repping from Cath’s drone I managed to stay alive with 82% structure. Despite the limited lock range of the Rifter I managed to get onto plenty of mails and even got the final blow on our original primary, the Blackbird. The blob was victorious.
As our scouts were deployed further afield we managed to catch a couple more targets in MHC-R3 and took down an Impairor, a SniggWaffe Ares, and an IT alliance Rokh.
Once the scene had been looted the fleet moved north through Poitot, where I keep a stash of loot, and on towards PF-346 and the high security gateway to Orvolle. The actual details of what happened are a bit hazy becaus eby now it was already approaching midnight. In K5-JRD we found and killed an Ishtar and then shortly after in X-M2LR a Sabre joined it in oblivion after taking down a couple of Agony tacklers.
After this we had a bit of a target drought and the tiredness was starting to tell. The fleet was getting split up and mistakes were being made. As we were about to dock up for a short break a Loki was sighted and we ended up making a dash across half a dozen systems only to arrive too late. At this point it was decided that a rest was definitely the best option and we found a quiet station to take a break in.
While we waited I chatted to a few of the locals and stored away the loot that I’d accumulated. I also took the chance to refit my ship using some of my pillaged modules. When we undocked the locals were ready for us and a stealth bombed decloaked and launched a bomb. A few people panicked but bombs are a bit of a theme on these roams and most people had learnt how to deal with them after the first couple.
We set off again looking for targets while at the same time Caldak began to make plans to use one of our gang as bait for Cry Havoc in PF-346. While the bait was being assembled we killed a Rifter and Thorax in Y-W6GF and a Broadsword in KFR-ZE. I was first to the Broadsword wreck and managed to get some decent loot. Even out here my pirate instincts were coming to the fore.
Eventually the trap was ready and we set course for PF-346. As we jumped into FD-MLJ a Drake was unlucky enough to land in our bubble and the gang made pretty short work of him. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a Drake go down so fast! By now our own bait Drake was engaged and we leapt into action. Cry Havoc’s battleships were tackled and we began to open up. “Bombs, bombs, bombs,” came the call over comms. All Agony fleets bring ship scanners with them to check for smartbombing battleships. It was too late for me, though. I’d reprogrammed my navigation computer’s default settings for a nice tight orbit because of the amount of time we were spending on gates. Before I even had chance to realise my mistake my ship exploded followed shortly by my pod. I was able to get on the mails for the Armageddon and Dominix at least.
Once I woke up in Heild way over in Molden Heath I decided that 0200 was as good a time to call it a night as any and made for my bunk. It looks like the guys didn’t stop there and you can see the night’s full death toll on Agony’s PvP University killboard. Thanks to Agony for a really fun run out and Cath, Splatter, and TeaDaze for keeping me entertained while things were slow. If you’ve not done one I definitely recommend Agony’s classes. I can’t wait for them to do a Wolfpacks class that I can actually attend.
Hopefully there’ll be more frigate chaos this weekend for me to report back on.
Don’t forget to vote in the CSM elections. In case you hadn’t guessed, I’m voting for TeaDaze. Click here to vote.

I do fly other stuff too. But when I'm solo I still play in Rifters and Thrashers. Anything else is just too expensive to fly into random blobs.
