Well, readers, you may have noticed that I’ve been very quiet lately. This is because I’ve barely had chance to log in and even less chance to actually write about my adventures when I have. In fact, most of my time in Eve has been spent trying to make some money.

For the last year I have happily lived off the proceeds of piracy. I have a friend in Jita who sells loot for me and buys the modules I need. She gets good prices and this has worked well for me. I’ve always had an ample supply of Rifters and a few larger ships in my hangar for when they’re needed. The thing is that I’ve begun to want to roam in ships other than just a Rifter. This means that losses become more expensive and the likelihood of being caught by camps and traps has increased. My slender resources can’t really afford this and so I’ve finally had to look elsewhere for my ISK.

Luckily for me my friend in Jita has a brother who is willing to help out. He was originally running a few missions for Federal Freight in the Hevrice area so I quickly got to know him. We sat down in The Tuskers favourite bar one night ended up chatting about how we could get rich. He had an interest in science and industry and I had some funds. It was obvious that with my money and his knowledge we could do something good.

He got a job with a local research corporation while he honed his skills. Science is a good career for the casual player because all you need to do is check your jobs once a day and maybe do a bit of admin every week. He quickly rose through the corporation and is now a director in charge of research. The one thing we both noticed is that this research business can be very lucrative and one night we arranged to meet in the bar to come up with a plan to get rich.

Verge Vendor is a pretty nice area to do business in at the moment. There is a perpetual war between two corporations that is keeping the market for frigates, cruisers, fittings, and ammo very healthy. Because of the remote nature of the area prices are relatively high and you can make money shipping in parts from more popular hubs. My partner and I decided that there was even more money to be made by going into the invention and manufacture business for ourselves. We did a bit of market research and right now we’re busy testing the waters with out first few products.

If all goes well then my friend will leave his current corporation when we have the required capital and go into business for himself. Assuming we’ve done our research correctly this could prove to be a very profitable venture for all concerned. For now, though, we have to hunker down and try and build up a decent cash reserve.
